VOLUNTEER

Our team of volunteers provides passion and support for our mission from the heart of the community. The ability to expand access to scholarships to an ever-growing number of students is made possible by the contributions of WAS volunteers. Volunteers can support organizational needs in a variety of roles including volunteer instructor or volunteer assistant as well as assisting in the areas of photo, video, event, or administration.

All NEW program volunteers are required to go through training sessions before signing up to volunteer for a lesson. Please click the link below to sign up:

Volunteers assist instructors with getting students fit on their bikes, basic on-trail bike maintenance, and post-ride cleanup. Volunteers with more training may be tasked with accompanying more independent student riders. At a minimum, cycling volunteers must be able to safely ride a bike; it is preferred that volunteers have their own bike and helmet.

Volunteers assist instructors with getting students fit on their bikes, basic on-trail bike maintenance, and post-ride cleanup. Volunteers with more training may be tasked with accompanying more advanced student riders. Mountain bike volunteers must have their own bike and helmet and ride at an intermediate-to-advanced level.

The paddle board and kayak program is offered at Tibble Fork Reservoir in American Fork Canyon. Volunteers assist with moving boats onto the shoreline, getting students in and out of their boat, and helping everyone have a fun time on the water! Paddling volunteers must be able to swim and be comfortable paddling a kayak or paddle board independently.

Volunteer assistants support instructors with fitting students in their skiing or snowboarding equipment, carrying gear, loading lifts, and helping students find fun and success. Volunteer instructors go through extensive preseason training to lead their own lessons with WAS students. All ski/snowboard volunteers must ski or ride at a minimum of an intermediate level and have their own helmet and skis/board.

Volunteers can join a snowshoe group in Little or Big Cottonwood Canyon. Help students get their snowshoes on and support them and their families as they explore the trail while enjoying a day in the mountains with WAS!
